Sur Marvi (سُر مارئي) is one of the famous Surs (chapters/sections) of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s (شاهه عبداللطيف ڀٽائيؒ) Shah Jo Risalo (شاهه جو رسالو). It tells the story of Marvi, a young woman from Malir (Thar) who is taken away by Umar, the ruler of Umerkot. Umar offers her wealth, comfort, and a royal life, but Marvi refuses because she remains loyal to her homeland, family, people, and dignity.
