We took the lead through Shkodran Mustafi’s own goal before Arsenal turned the game on its head, with Lucas Torreira and a Gabriel Martinelli brace putting the visitors 3–1 ahead. James Milner pulled one back from the penalty spot just before half time, but Ainsley Maitland-Niles restored Arsenal’s two-goal cushion early in the second half. Then came the comeback. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain pulled one back before Divock Origi levelled the game just four minutes later. Joe Willock appeared to have ended the drama by making it 5–4 with 20 minutes remaining, but we simply refused to accept defeat. Deep into stoppage time, Origi produced another moment of magic, smashing home his second of the night to make it 5–5 and send Anfield into absolute pandemonium. With the shootout locked at 4–4, Arsenal missed their final penalty before Curtis Jones stepped up and calmly sent us through. Ten goals, penalties, chaos and an unforgettable comeback.
