@letsbetechs: A quick hack I saw floating around involved using a bench grinder with a wire brush to clean up a smaller, mangled hand brush. I was curious if my trusty wire wheel would be sufficient in place of a bench grinder, so I put it to the test! What do you guys think—was it a solid improvement? Next time, maybe I can try a comparison between a wire wheel and a bench grinder to see which one actually straightens better. My guess? looks like it worked ok, I think higher rpm on a bench grinder would probably work better but in the field, that did just fine
