also re isn't just about religion atleast in my school we learnt about things such as war, abortion, contraception and weather or not we should be able to use the earth's resources to its full abilities or be more careful, we often debated about these topics and we also learned them from a religious point of view everyone's opinions were welcome despite the fact that we were all of different religions. and I went to a Christian school

Except RE in my country doesn’t teach you abt other religions and just makes you practice the most popular one in the world blindly. Also, comparing RE to English classes is so stupid, because unlike English which is the most spoken language in the world and is actually helpful in your future, RE is just a huge waste of time and don’t bring anything valuable to your life.

well no, he said non-catholic which is perfectly reasonable and i doubt he meant not doing it during the years were you dont have a choice in subjects, but instead afterwards once you do since it is still mandatory then in catholic schools (also social studies exists to teach those things you talk about, and without the perspective of religion to alter or change the facts)
