The Gold Coast Police Band was the musical unit of the colonial-era Gold Coast Police Force and is the direct predecessor of today’s independence in 1957, the band continued under its new national name. In 1947, the band made its first major visit to Britain, spending four months touring town across the country and performing for British audiences. Their visit included official receptions, appearances in London and a performance at a royal garden party at Buckingham Palace- An important chapter in the early international history of Ghanaian music and the Ghana 🇬🇭 Police Band.
