Really? not cool. :
Fable can directly call the codex CLI and dispatch work to it. I use Fable as my orchestrator, I use a skill to dispatch fully actionable PRDs from my enhancement backlog to it. the skill directs it to dispatch work to a mix of GPT models, Opus, Grok, Cursor based on the difficulty of the work, this balances the load out between all my subs, so I'm not maxing one out and having to switch process/model/tool mid work stream.

Interesting I do the exact opposite. Codex is reviewer and Claude builds.

How much of the role assignment is to mitigate costs vs performance?

Yep doing exactly the same. Claude code fable to plan and orchestrate, dispatch plan review and heavy work in subtasks to codex with a skill, light tasks to Opus subtask. Slow but excellent quality. Wild thing is rarely hitting limits now.

I’ve found a good use for opus 5 I have fable write a plan. I have opus 5 review that plan which it does extremely well. I have fable add that review to the plan and then I have opus 4.8 implement it. The happiest I’ve been since fable 5 came out.

I’m doing the same thing but using opus 4.8. My coding progress at least doubled. Having opus verify and debug the code but it’s not finding errors when gpt uses its instruction. How do you have fable watch codex?

I’m actually in the process of doing that right now trying to decide what is the best lead and then the best engineer and I actually hadn’t thought about making fable the lead, but I have actually already decided that the engineer will be Codex after a bunch of looking into things yesterday so you’re definitely onto something

I’m kinda doing this but I want to know the best way to do it because my process is using GitHub as the in between. How are you doing it. My way is a hassle.

Stop keeping your work on platforms. i teach people how to make AI agnostic systems. I can close a session in Claude and immediately open it in Codex with no memory on context loss. It's handy for when you hit a usage limit.
