Gempa magnitudo 7,7 mengguncang wilayah sekitar Nusa Tenggara Timur pada Sabtu (15/8/2026) pukul 04.58 WIB. Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG) kemudian mengeluarkan pemutakhiran peringatan dini tsunami untuk wilayah NTT, NTB, Sulawesi Selatan, dan Sulawesi Tenggara. Pusat gempa berada di 30 kilometer timur laut Mbay, Nagekeo, NTT, pada kedalaman 15 kilometer. BMKG menyatakan terdapat potensi tsunami dan meminta informasi peringatan dini diteruskan kepada masyarakat. Dalam pemodelan BMKG, delapan wilayah masuk status Siaga.
