I think 18–35 is a good employment age range because workplaces also need young people who are familiar with today’s technology and can adapt quickly. Where I work, there are older people who struggle with some of the technology, and sometimes myself at 21 and my colleague at 28 end up doing tasks for them. Giving more opportunities to young people can bring fresh skills, energy and new ideas into the workplace. Youth employment matters. 🙌🏾

The problem with the 35-year cut-off is that unemployment and poverty don’t disappear when someone turns 35. A person can be unemployed at 34 and still face the same struggles at 35, yet lose access to opportunities simply because of age. Government should create opportunities based on people’s needs and circumstances, not treat 35 as the end of someone’s chance to find work.
