Executive Summary Link Click, known in Chinese as Shiguang Dailiren (时光代理人), is a psychological thriller donghua produced by Studio Lan and bilibili. Since its debut in 2021, it has become a global phenomenon, praised for its unique take on time travel, emotional depth, and high-stakes suspense. Unlike traditional "superhero" narratives, it focuses on the moral complexities and unintended consequences of altering the past. 2. General Information Original Title: Shiguang Dailiren (时光代理人) Director: Li Haoling Studio: Studio Lan (in collaboration with Haoliners Animation League) Original Run: April 30, 2021 – Present Genre: Supernatural, Thriller, Mystery, Drama Episodes: Season 1 (11 + OVA), Season 2 (12) Language: Mandarin (Original), English (Dubbed) 3. Premise & Plot The story follows two young men, Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang, who operate a small business called the "Time Photo Studio." Hidden within an old corner of a modern city, they offer a specialized service: traveling back into photos to fulfill client requests. The Mechanism of Time Travel The duo utilizes a synchronized supernatural ability: Lu Guang: Can see everything that happened within a photo for 12 hours after it was taken. He acts as the "eyes" and the strategist. Cheng Xiaoshi: Can "dive" into the photo, inhabiting the body of the person who took the picture. He acts as the "executor." The Rules To prevent catastrophic changes to the present, Lu Guang enforces three strict rules: You have only 12 hours. Follow my instructions and do not change anything. Regardless of the past, the future remains unchanged. (A rule that becomes the central conflict of the series). 4. Core Characters Cheng Xiaoshi (程小时) The emotional heart of the duo. He is impulsive, empathetic, and often struggles to remain a detached observer. His tendency to interfere in the lives of the people he inhabits provides the show's primary tension. Lu Guang (陆光) The stoic, analytical partner. He remains calm under pressure and possesses a mysterious past. While he appears cold, his strict adherence to the rules is driven by a desire to protect Cheng Xiaoshi from the "butterfly effect." Qiao Ling (乔苓) The landlord of the studio and a close childhood friend of the duo. She acts as the intermediary between the clients and the photographers, often providing the "human" anchor to their supernatural lives. 5. Key Themes and Analysis A. The Weight of Regret Each episode usually deals with a client’s regret—be it a lost secret, a missed opportunity, or a final goodbye. The show explores whether knowing the truth is always better than living in ignorance. B. Determinism vs. Free Will The series constantly battles with the concept of "Nodes." Some events are fixed in time and cannot be changed, leading to heartbreaking moments where the protagonists realize that even with superpowers, some tragedies are inevitable. C. Social Commentary Link Click does not shy away from real-world issues. It touches upon: Corporate corruption and toxic work culture. Human trafficking and child abduction. The fragile nature of modern relationships. 6. Technical Production Art Style and Animation The show features a distinct aesthetic that blends realistic urban backgrounds with stylized character designs. The use of lighting and color palettes is instrumental in shifting the mood from cozy slice-of-life to chilling horror. Soundtrack (OST) The music is a standout feature. Opening (OP): "Dive" by JAWS.
