And as an empath who loves connecting with people, i can ALWAYS tell. Especially in a panel interview if I don’t get the job I for sure know who the negative person was.

Some of the best advice I’ve ever received is, before an interview, work conference, big meetings. Look up the key players on LinkedIn, Facebook, instagram, web articles, anything you can find to uncover their personal hobbies, interests, passion projects etc. If there’s any mutual interest, research it and naturally work into conversation. Even better if you can work it into a comparison story or joke where that topic was clearly the highlight. It’s a balance and don’t do it for everyone. But it works.

Yes! I turned down a second round interview opportunity because I was so uncomfortable with the team during the first round - got a very bad vibe from them.

I learned when they end with “do you have any questions?” The answer is yes. I asked “what does a high performing employee in this role look like for you?” And she seemed impressed and happy to answer it
