So if one leg has extensive nerve damage, including drop foot, you're pretty much screwed? Can't fix dead nerves.

I teach yoga and practice daily and this explains why I was uninjured after getting rear ended at a stop by someone going 55 miles an hour and also why I can crash on my mountain bike and not feel a huge impact

Sigh. Even more reason that I need to do yoga and not just couch rot in increasingly weird positions to compensate for my hypermobility. Absolutely great info.

Thank you so much for this. This is so fascinating. My physical therapist is having me do these types of movements for lupus and fibromyalgia and I think it’s working.

Most of the joints of mine pop or need to be put into place with stretches and it’s only short relief. I’ve been fighting autoimmune like symptoms for three years now , thank you for sharing this

So something that I am hearing is that in order to do the poses effectively, for those muscles to be activated, they need to be done in an active way. Similar to holding an arm in the air in a way like it floats. Or like keeping your legs straight in a relaxed, but focused manner without locking the knees.

Going through the diagnosis process now. But ever since I kind of realized I was hyper mobile it reminded me of something my acupuncturist said six years ago. He said just strength trained by holding different parts of your body up for long periods of time. So I just literally lift my leg up when I’m in bed and just keep it up until I literally can’t anymore and then I move it ever so slightly and it works a different muscle

I feel like this is an issue for me, that I have never heard anyone talk about! For my adult life I have had terrible mind muscle connection. I cannot seem to relax my muscles or target them. My joints on one side fee to loose and the other side feels to tight. Thank you for explaining this. I have been working for a little over a year now to heal the connection.
