I think we need to start asking a much deeper question: at what point do increasingly restrictive migration policies begin to work against integration itself? Imagine coming to Sweden, working, paying taxes and trying to establish yourself in society, while being expected to live apart from your spouse or children for years before reunification is even possible. Then add processing times, maintenance and housing requirements, and further restrictions on who can join you. Family stability is not separate from integration. For many people, it is part of what allows them to work, study, learn the language, build a community and actually put down roots. Sweden absolutely has the right to regulate migration and ensure that people coming here can support themselves and contribute. But there also needs to be a conversation about proportionality and long-term consequences. If skilled workers, researchers, healthcare professionals and other internationally mobile people conclude that building a stable family life here is unnecessarily difficult, many have other countries to choose from. So the question should simply not be whether Sweden can make migration more restrictive. The question is what kind of Sweden these policies are building and whether the country risks making itself less attractive to some of the very people it hopes to attract, integrate and retain.

Swedens right-wing government will loose in our election in September🤞🏽. The Swedes and foreigners that has citizenship has to vote! My self, im on the leftside on the spectrum and i will vote accordingly. The Sweden democrats has been gaining huge influence in Swedish politics in the last 10 years. The motion to move the goalpost from 18 to 21 years is not a humanitarian decision. They are even offering foreigners 350.000kr = ca 35.000$ to repatriate back to their home country! Europe and its xenophobic laws. In the UK there are even categories of immigrants who are banned from bringing family. Kemi Badenoch, even argued that in today's age with technology, immigrants don't need to be physically together with their families.
