With a large roster of original and iconic licensed characters from horror franchises, each with their own backstory, teachable perks, and powers, Dead by Daylight offers endless replayability and a constantly evolving meta. The tension is relentless, with a dynamic heartbeat system signaling the Killer's proximity, a terror radius that changes based on the Killer's actions, and a unique chase mechanic that involves vaulting, pallet stunning, and mind games. Beyond the basic objective, Survivors must also contend with the Killer's unique abilities, which can range from teleportation and chainsaw sprints to stealth, traps, and ranged attacks, forcing constant adaptation. The game also incorporates a deep lore involving the Entity, an ancient cosmic being that feeds on the emotions of hope, fear, and sacrifice, pulling characters from different dimensions and time periods into its eternal trials. Survival requires teamwork, communication, and split-second decision-making, while the Killer must master their power, map knowledge, and psychological warfare to outsmart and overwhelm their prey.
