@mazandmel: Montenegro is easily my least favourite county I’ve visited in Europe & second least favourite in the whole world… I I think the country itself is absolutely stunning, but that is about it. In Montenegro, my experience was that the systems, the infrastructure, the people do not make for a good trip. I was so excited to visit as Montenegro has been on my list for a long time and I hear so many good things about the country on social media so so I’m not gonna lie I was completely shocked that we had a negative experience there. I found it interesting because I actually love the Balkans and I’ve been to many Balkan countries, but this was completely different. Montenegro was the first time I’ve TRULY experienced pure racism abroad. The people will completely dismiss you, not serve you and will mutter racist comments under their breath. What I will say is the locals in Montenegro definitely don’t like tourists which is fine, but they CERTAINLY do not like black tourists at all which I found really surprising because I see so many black people going to Montenegro and saying they enjoyed it? Nevertheless, again this was just OUR experience. The buses in Montenegro either don’t come or you are waiting at least half an hour for them. The longest we waited was around an hour and 20 minutes for a bus from Budva to Kotor and in the end in never came. The men in Montenegro are also another factor which made our trip an unpleasant experience. They beep at you in their cars, secretly film you and one even followed us from the beach.
