@shelsleywalsh: We've just had one of the most memorable Shelsley Walsh weekends in living history as one of the biggest prizes in hill climbing, the outright Shelsley record, was broken in the class runs and then both Top 12 Run Offs with it going from Will Hall's 22.33 second mark from June this year. First Matthew Ryder took it to 22.29 then Wallace Menzies and Will Hall took it to 22.27 in the first Top 12 Run Off - the first time there's ever been a dead-heat for an outright Shelsley record! As the afternoon progressed the temperatures cooled and new tyres were fitted by many for the final shoot out of the day in which Will Hall did a 22.28 leaving Wallace as the last runner to equal or beat the 22.27 he'd set earlier in the day. With a simply breath taking 1.74 second time for the first 64 feet he hit 131mph on Ess Approach to dart through the Esses and hit 151mph over the line to set 22.20 seconds and another new record! Both Menzies and reigning champion Matthew Ryder clocked 22 second runs on every run they did over the weekend from practice to the final Run Off, something that's never been done before. The theatre of Shelsley Walsh on a sunny day with new tarmac laid by the Midland Automobile Club in March giving staggering grip meant drivers in all classes were in their element to make it a joy to see trackside as it showed British hill climbing at its very best.
