I hope other pastors learn from this. He said, “The Lord told me,” meaning this was a direct instruction from God. That distinction matters, because when God sends you, He goes ahead of you. The angels were already there before them, and the mission was successful because it was God who gave the instruction.
There is a difference between when God specifically sends you and when you decide to go simply because you are a pastor, prophet, or spiritual leader.
Think about Jeremiah. God told him to go against those who would rise against him, and assured him, in essence, “Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and I will deliver you, because I am the One who sent you.” The authority was not in Jeremiah himself, it was in the One who commissioned him.
You don’t go to confront shrines, deities, or spiritual strongholds simply because you believe you possess spiritual power. You go because God sent you. There is a vast difference.
The danger is when a person assumes an assignment God never gave them. What was meant to be an act of obedience can become presumption, and presumption can have consequences.
Never confuse spiritual authority with divine instruction. Before you confront anything, make sure Heaven actually sent you.
