no your actually not supposed to put ice directly on you skin my sister's a dermatologists and she said because the extreme cold causes blood vessels to close very fast, which cuts off blood and oxygen to the tissue. This rapid damage can cause frostbite, ice burns, and permanent harm to your skin cells.
