It was very different from twin peaks as the other comments says but that doesn’t make it better. Twin Peaks was loved not only for its surrealism, which was limited, but for its interesting characters. The return I feel completely changes the characters, and most importantly it doesn’t have neither of the protagonists, sheriff Truman and Dale cooper (who really is himself for only the final episodes). The writing was mediocre in my opinion and let’s be honest the pacing was horrible. It felt like a chore to watch every episode. Other than the intro, most of the twin peaks we loved was lost.

i understand his vision in this and some episoded were just amazing....but we follow a hollow shell of the original with a slug of Cooper that we follow from Point A to B as scenes drag on and we get none of the charm that the original had.

the return is so different from twin peaks because it was entirely directed by lynch and just focused on his vision while the original show was directed by other people aswell giving him less space to experiment
