I’m writing two fan fics, whenever I get into a slump in one fic, I switch to the other. Another thing I do is keep writing even if the dialogue is awkward. I always go back to fix it eventually but something is better than nothing.

Thank you for this. I stopped writing 8 years ago and just started again. Finished my first draft and I’m drained and scared that I’ll lose all interest again if I stop for a moment but after 200k words in three months I got nothing left. For now. Your vid is exactly what I needed to hear.

Sometimes I take a side quest by giving myself a what-if. What if my character did something completely bizarre? What if there was a flood? I don’t write thé what if into my story, but I brainstorm notes of what that would mean and then I just journal consequences. I feel like it rattles thé cobwebs out of my flow and sometimes completely changes my direction.
