They can't deal with the sinus while it's infected, it's normal to do it in two procedures. Anyone spoken to you about aftercare now it's drained? ASK NOW.
If they want you to get it packed (iykyk) make sure they send you home with at least a week's worth of supplies, pharmacies often have to order it in specially and it's extra stressful.

Heads up (I’m a nurse) when they pack it, it’s pretty savage pain wise so take painkillers a good hour before!

i had something a little similar almost a year ago - found a random lump in my armpit area, thought it was cancerous so went to the doctors, 24 hours later had to go into a&e because this lump ended up overnight becoming the size of a small football in my armpit and spent four days being denied to be seen despite losing literal movement in my arm, being unable to put my arm down to my side and also being diabetic (makes infections more severe/urgent.) i had even collapsed in the entrance on day 3 after going into sepsis only to be then wheeled back into a waiting room. when finally being seen by the surgery unit on day 4 they were livid and demanded to know why i wasn’t brought to them from day one. turned out i had a severely infected 7cm deep in my arm abscess and it took over two and a half hours to operate on. it’s absolutely vile how the nhs turn away people in genuine need but it’s so great to hear you was finally able to get surgery in the end!! wishing you a speedy recovery ❤️🩹

It would have been so much more efficient to do both procedures at the same time. Nhs bureaucracy sometimes is literally a pain. Wishing you well and I hope you get booked for sinus removal soon.

With the wound being packed and clean, take medication before you get it done! Look in to some undies that are moisture wicking moving on from this. Sweat, fabric and heat are a perfect breeding ground. There’s also a wash called chrlorhexadine, it’s green and will help keep any bugs off. Even go without undies every now and then. Invest in a good donut pillow too, will take pressure off when you’re sitting. Good luck mate!
