It’s such a style thing. Like you can’t go into (a traditional) Kiss Me Kate as if you were doing Dear Evan Hansen. Like “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” requires a certain old school style, that I fear isn’t being taught as much. Study your history children, yes your belt is important but it’s not everything.

This is my car song. Has been for 25 years. Since high school when I regretted not auditioning for a lead. Cast as a mission doll and then a hot box girl when someone else dropped out. Had I gone out for a lead and gotten a part it would have been Sarah. That’s where my voice was then. But Adalaide’s Lament is what I sing in the car, loudly, with drama, with the accent. Ugh. I love this song.
