The line of questioning reaffirmed the prosecution's stance that Clancy didn't really intend to die by her own hand that night. Rather, the prosecution suggests her injuries were part of a devious and carefully planned scheme to escape the responsibilities of motherhood by killing her children and falsely blaming her actions on mental illness. Kevin Reddington, Clancy's defense attorney, countered by pointing out that a long time had passed since she injured herself when they arrived, and both natural coagulation of blood and the frigid winter temperatures could account for her wounds not actively bleeding.
