best professor ive ever had did not allow technology in his classroom. he would deduct an entire letter grade after the first week if you used tech. forced students to use pen and paper I learned more in that one class than any other class ive ever taken

They're literally failing the kids by not failing them, it's ridiculous. I wasn't stupid by any means, but my GPA dropped to a 2.4 because I stopped caring. I should NOT have graduated with a CORE40. Knew a kid who scored a 700 on his last SAT. He should NOT have graduated with a CORE40. Knew a kid that started a business in sophomore year, real business savvy, complete dumbass academically though his grades were shit. He should NOT have graduated with a CORE40.

One of my college professors said something today that I will never forget if you cheat in school you will cheat in whatever career you decide to pursue and no one wants a doctor, teacher, therapist who cheats out health or learning

Being left a grade behind while your peers move on to the next grade is a kind if shame that makes a kid motivated, I’m speaking from experience. Some kids need this kind of shame or they’ll never want to improve

My wife is a teacher so I can tell you none of this will matter if you don’t also start holding the parents accountable. Why do you think these kids are the way they are?

As a teacher, I agree with you 100%. I would go one step further. Make the GED test a requirement for graduation for everybody. If you don't pass, you don't graduate.

Ever stood in the shadow of a giant and felt insignificant, yet oddly invincible? Vidraru Dam at sunset is less a panorama and more a visceral epiphany, a colossus of steel sinew and poured concrete ribcage, clawing at the spine of the Făgăraș Mountains. At 166 meters tall and 307 meters long, this is no polite postcard—it’s a scar across the land, audacious and unashamed, gilded by the last exhale of daylight as if even the sun itself cannot resist tracing every brutal angle with molten gold. Here, numbers don’t just quantify—they haunt: 465,000 cubic meters of concrete, 42 kilometers of water stretching like a glass blade behind the dam, enough power generated to hush a city’s hunger for light. There’s a terrible, beautiful symmetry to it, the way man’s ambition becomes a monolith, a cathedral for the secular age, outlasting faith, outmuscling rivers, a thunderous statement that even mountains must occasionally bend the knee. In this twilight, the dam is a beast half-awake, basking, not caring if you stand in awe or fear. But what do you see reflected in the water when the sky erupts in gold and umber? Do you marvel at the audacity, or mourn what was drowned to make this happen? What monuments will we leave, and will the world forgive us for our beautiful scars? Where else does the golden hour feel like a dare you’re not quite brave enough to accept?
