So very true taking care of my 94 yr old mom and husband that contracted bacterial meningitis and lost the use of his legs - by a miracle he is almost walking with PT - I’m so tired and have 8 dogs I take care of as well - it’s a lot

I’ve been a caregiver for a little over 10 years. A lot of what I learned, I learned on my own. I’ve thought about providing training for family caregivers but I don’t have ANY credentials other than my experience.

my brother and I had a lil training when our mom was in and out of the hospital and rehab after her stroke honestly we just watched and asked questions and took notes. we also have family and friends that are caregivers

I remember just sobbing at work because I was struggling as a caregiver. Yes I was exhausted but mainly because I was making tasks so hard for myself. A coworker, also former nurse started giving me tips. I learned caregiver skills from a Lab Tech. This is the medical community we as caregivers have to navigate. It’s a joke and needs to be fixed.

this all of this! my mom broke her hip so after her hospital stay she went to rehab. every morning I was there and I watched how the cnas did the basin baths and asked a lot of questions and the cnas even had me help so I could learn how best to care for my mom when she came home.

Caregivers have the most hardest and selfless job. Earth angels who have to fight to keep their loved one alive! They are master learners through trial and error! Elderly, disabled and sick is so different from a healthy baby and toddler. Age regression yes but many health problems that elderly nerves don’t signal so they don’t know when to speak up when they feel sick or pain. It takes the caregiver to catch on!! It’s a lot of attention to details! Medical staff and doctors dismiss seniors and disabled so caregivers have to be their voice ! It’s truly a purposeful job and path in life but also so sad and lonely! 🥺 Respect to all caregivers who save their loved ones life from institutions like care and rehab centers who hire to neglect the residents and steal residents money by over charging them for minimal care to lay in their diapers and old sheets from a day to weeks! If you love your seniors! Hire a care giver to come to your house if you don’t have the energy to! 💝💝🙏🙏😩😩😩🤏🤏🤏💐💐🤌🤌🤌🔥🔥🔥

Are you talking about a care giver or a CNA? Because I was very well trained as a caregiver in 1986 then was grandmothered into cna. Very well trained. What state are you in?

My husband came home immobile and nonverbal. I was shown how to work the buttons on the house lift and discharge med instructions. Luckily we spent 70 days in neuro icu before rehab and home so I had a lot of training there and contacts for questions.
