@drnighatarif: Ever wonder why a diabetes drug is one of the most powerful tools for PMOS? Metformin doesn’t just ‘lower blood sugar.’ It tells your liver to stop overproducing glucose, helps your muscles use insulin better, and calms down those androgen-producing ovaries …this is your cue to ask the right questions at your next PMOS review
My experience is that you only get metformin on the NHS for PCOS/PMOS if you’re trying to get pregnant. I made the mistake of saying that I don’t want anymore kids when I saw an NHS Endocrinologist last month and now my GP won’t give me metformin- unless I’m going to ‘try’ again 😭

I couldn’t tolerate metformin at all. It was awful on my already sensitive gut problems. Even on the slow release. I may as well have lived in the toilet when I took that.

metformin didn't do anything for me. I suggested spriolactine instead as Facial hair is now taking over my life and affecting me going out socially but GP said no straight away without any reason given.

Always ask for slow release Metformin because the regular one will give you runny poo and for me it didn't calm down. Slow release Metformin works!

I think it can only be prescribed by a gynae? I asked my GP and they said no but I could be referred? I’ve started MJ and it’s really helping but wondering if I could switch to metformin for long term?
