@itsme_lisap: Lindsey Clancy’s case is bringing so much about postpartum mental health to the forefront of the public consciousness that I hope it gets taken more seriously by providers going forward #postpartum #MentalHealth #maternalmentalhealth #lindsayclancy #MomsofTikTok

I was told by my doctor not to be dramatic when I said i had postpartum depression/anxiety and rage and it took me more then 6 months before I was finally put on a waiting list I divorced my ex husband because he also said I was dramatic

I’m a therapist and am in the middle of extra trainings in women’s health so I can do my small part in helping to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

I was being abused while having babies, and I have almost no memories of the ones around their babyhood. I think I was in psychosis

Thank you for this video, especially in regards to minority mothers. We can all suffer but we know those of us with privilege can get help easier than those who do not. 🤍

I was told it was baby blues and to go away and deal with it because I had 4 children and I should just get on with it.

My son was diagnosed with ocd at around 13. He is almost 24 and at his worst. Why? Because every doc he has seen over medicated him or didn’t understand what he was experiencing. They don’t “specialize” in the treatment he needs. Or they will work with him but after a few sessions either say “ sorry can’t see you anymore I’m leaving the office or you need higher care” we have state insurance so it’s been hard to find help. He has developed now obsessions and rituals he didn’t have before. OCD has consumed his life. We won’t give up. I will find him care that helps but god it’s so hard.

It’s not well understood even in the healthcare/mental health space. Part of the problem is that ppd/ppp isn’t in the DSMV. It’s either depression or psychosis with “peripartum onset.” This trial is actually a snapshot of so many issues related to women’s health, namely a lack of resources and research. But yes postpartum mental health is almost entirely related to the support of your partner—and I will die on that hill.

Yep. I cofounded a maternal mental health nonprofit where I live about 10 years ago because of my own experience and that of my friend. We did so much work and made a lot of progress in our area but the thing that ultimately led to our shutting down was that after all of our work and other nonprofits across the country, women were still being failed left and right. Still being blamed. Still being misunderstood. We just couldn’t take it anymore. Lindsey did everything right and she was still failed and is being held responsible.

The general public doesn't understand mental health in general. It's become such a "buzz word" but it hasn't materialized into general knowledge. This case is so devastatingly sad 😭 There were multiple moments that could have changed things 😔 it's all so incredibly sad 😭

This is the message that should be shared about this horrible tragedy and not the wild conspiracy theories I am seeing on this app I live very close to this town and it had a huge impact on the community.

It’s wild that something experienced by a large portion of the population, especially anxiety, isn’t understood by most of the population.
