This is somewhat of a vent but feel free to reply. I feel alone in a crowd. My dad, and all my friends never really care about learning about our native eco systems(to be fair I talk a lot about it so it probably just annoys them) but the won’t eat from the wild my mum is like “you don’t know what has done what to that plant” and ignores what’s done to the plant we eat from the shops, arguably more disgusting than anything from the forest floor. Though I think I’m getting through to her, when she asked me to forage plant for her cleg bite I was on it. She saw a plant a woman online was talking about and described it to me (I had to guess) and I guessed the plant first try. I, being a bit autistic, hate being reliant on people(eg shops and big company’s) so I have learned so many plants that grow around me that I can bearly look away from an edible plant(mainly in the summer though I do know a few winter ones) but when I end up in barren places like the barren landscape of scotland, where I live, I get a very “uncomfortable” feeling, it annoys me that so many other people live so close to a forest and actively avoid them and I have fields and naked mountains covered in like one plant. This is getting long and I have things to do ba bye!

I had to follow you. I have the Merlin app because I love feeding the birds. I also am terrible with names of people, but I can tell you about a bunch of plants, rocks, birds and animals. I also closely follow the hummingbird wars in my yard and the blue jay and robin beef.

My grandfather taught me all of these things as a child. Amd I never understood. Until I got to adulthood and realized how corrupt this world is. And you’re right everyone should care more about nature then all the stupid thing people care about. Thank for this ❤️

I can name about 30 native plants. But then again, I live and work on a 3400 acre Nature Preserve. Don’t hate, I got fired for the first time in my life, to end up in this job.
