He says he read it, but only in the movie are the lotus eaters and calypso’s island combined.

I don't know what's so funny about dismissing a portrayal of men's sexual assault, you literally described it as him being a sex slave, don't you think he'd much rather be on his way home back to his wife rather than to be forced to be with Calypso?

Keith W. :
I feel Calypso is a metaphor for numbing trauma with sex and malaise. Even in a situation where it reads like paradise, it’s hell if you are not at peace

When Calypso is told by Zeus to let Odysseus leave, she goes on a tirade about the male gods sleeping with mortals constantly but she can’t have one mortal for a monogamous relationship

My only negative against the movie is they made Odysseus too much of a hero.

Odysseus was not, and basically no ancient mythological figure, would meet our definition of a "wholly good person". There are elements which are good, moral, and just, and there are examples where it is not, because people were different 3000 years ago. It was completely fine to take a "war bride" when you conquer an enemy people. Theseus kills the Minotaur. Why? The Minotaur was a cursed child who was a victim of the gods. Shouldnt Theseus have helped the Minotaur? See where modern morality brings you?
