All my favorite alt clothes are either hand-me-downs, merch or from Name it. The only exception to this, is when thrifting. I’ve never seen a SHEIN tag or of that like, most clothing brands found in my thrift store is from H&M, which I don’t know if is fast fashion, I just know that it’s a Swedish brand which is one of the most common clothing brands in my country making it impossible to avoid.

vinted isn't as good as tiktok claims it to be. too many people know what they have and overcharge. I recommend using apps old people already have been using for ages. you have more free/cheap stuff and more plus size options then on vinted. I found these on Kleinanzeigen (German eBay) for 30$

I order from shein once or twice a year only for necessities, i get a couple of cutecore items each time, and after 3 years of being cutecore i have a full wardrobe, I never throw away clothes I use everything I don’t wear anymore as pjs or give it away, people who do huge shein hauls every month or so with tons of “alt” clothes make me sick.

I want to learn how to sew for this reason, dyeing clothes is easy, but being able sew together garments to make new clothing would be a huge help. I looove charity shops, most of my clothing is from charity shops and if you know where to look they have some banging clothes. I love Cybergoth and I want to make clothes that fit that aesthetic, I’ve been looking at patterns, craft shops, fabric shops, I make my own repeatable patterns too

I live in a little town in Chile, latinoamerica. Everything in this look is thrifted (even the shoes) except the headress and the mesh shirt. I feel sometimes people are not patient enough or don't see the vision unless it's already styled in a mannequin or model.

I literally used to live in a third world country and I stole my dad’s black shirt to paint and make a more “alt” baggy shirt. Even then I didn’t have to resort to shein and fast fashion. If you want to you can🙏

this is a really big hot take, but i think just bc you by slow fashion doesnt make you alt, ans just bc you by fast fashion, it doesnt make you unethical. I personally think someone who buys one shirt from Shien and wears it for years and years, cutting, sewing, and fixing it, is more alt than someone who buys 4 pieces of slow fashion a week and only wears them for a few weeks/months then throws it away
