@jennifer.lauren.rose: Replying to @K'lyn Fullington Part 2 of my book recommendations for the healing, spiritual, and awakening path. This time centering Indigenous wisdom keepers and authors of color. I also want to acknowledge that my last list lacked diversity and inclusion. It wasn’t conscious, which is exactly why it’s something worth noticing and examining in myself. There can be a real whitewashing of spirituality in the West. Ancient teachings can become separated from their cultural context, repackaged, and shared without acknowledging the people and lineages that carried them. And I also believe that, in many ways, we’re all sitting around the same fire. Humans across cultures have been asking ancient questions about Spirit, consciousness, healing, the Earth, and what it means to be alive. We can learn from one another without erasing where the wisdom came from. Cultural appreciation can include curiosity, respect, attribution, reciprocity, and honoring the differences between traditions. If you’re looking for books on Indigenous spirituality, ancestral wisdom, decolonizing spirituality, and consciousness, here are some beautiful places to begin. I’m committed to continuing to examine my own blind spots, decolonize my spirituality, and use this platform to amplify more of the voices and wisdom traditions that deserve to be heard. ◆ 📚List 1. The Eye of the Gods: An Awakening of Consciousness by Grazietta Salcedo D’Crescenzo 2. Think Indigenous: Native American Spiritualty for a Modern World by Doug Good Feather 3. Peace is Every Step: The Path of Mindfullness in Everyday Life by Thich Nhat Hanh 4. Tao Te Ching: A Book About The Way and the Power of the Way by Ursula K Le Guin 5. The Healing Wisdom of Africa: Finding Life Purpose Through Nature, Ritual, and Community by Malidoma Somé 6. My Grandmother’s Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Parhways to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies 7. Light in the Dark: Rewriting Identity, Spirituality, Reality by Gloria Anzaldúa #consciousness #awakening #spirituality #decolonizespirituality

I commented a few months ago about a book that I adored called “The Empathy Gap”, by Tammy Triolo. I really hope you’ll look into buying her book. I adored it so much.
