@farmhouseish: Covered Deck Trim - maybe my most intimidating trim project yet because I had to be so high off the ground. This all started when we had a crew come cover our deck and I told them to just do the roof and leave everything unfinished. Because I wanted to do it all myself. So when it came time to trim out the top, I had a decision to make. Hire someone to just come paint it and call it a day, rent a lift which would cost upwards of $500/day, or get on a ladder and get it done 💪 I was nervous, not going to lie. But once I realized I could harness myself to the beams I felt better. Even though it still probably wasn’t the safest lol. I used PVC 1x10s and 1x12s to wrap the main beam and trim around the inside edges. Then I used 1x4s and 1x6s to wrap the posts on top. The angles were a little tough, but they turned out so good! I used 1x2s along the peak on front, added a detail piece at the very top, and used scrap boards to make my own keystone shaped PVC pieces to cover the joints and gaps front and center. These actually turned out so good! Of course I had to add a couple corbels up here to match down low, then I got everything filled, caulked, and sealed. And OH MY GOODNESS I’m so proud of this project! Is it perfect? No way. But it looks so much better now! Next… WE FINISH OUT THE CEILING! Maybe beadboard or tongue and groove… Let me know what you would do! #covereddeck #outdoorliving #deckdesign #patiodesign #homeupgrades

It looks amazing! There’s a old superstitions that you paint it a sky blue so bugs dont set up shop there. I’d also add some lights to make it cozy.
