@vee.def: Surreal that it’s been 1 year and 3 months since my diagnosis. A year since I was told they were going to have to amputate half my leg. 2 1/2 years since I first knew something was wrong with my leg and started pressing the doctors because I couldn’t walk for more than 15 mins without pain and a swollen ankle (and it took over a year to finally get sent for an MRI and get the diagnosis). A year ago we didn’t know if I’d make it this far. It took 8 months of using a wheelchair to go anywhere outside the house, and walker in my house before I was able to take those first steps on my prosthetic leg. 9 months of aggressive chemo (10 if you count the one month in between for the surgery). Here I am. Finally. The tumours in my lungs shrunk enough with chemo that my oncologist is very optimistic about my prognosis. It isn’t gone yet but my latest scans showed there’s been no growth of them since the previous scans 3 months ago! Before May 26th of last year I never would have imagined being so fucking grateful to just be taking a walk around the block on a nice day. I still have a long and hard journey ahead. But teaching myself to celebrate every victory along the way and have gratitude 🖤 #cancerfighter #ewingsarcoma #amputee
