@rootednewjersey: Mount Tammany is much more than one of New Jersey’s most popular hikes. Reaching 1,527 feet in elevation, it forms the New Jersey side of the Delaware Water Gap, with Mount Minsi standing directly across the Delaware River in Pennsylvania. The mountain’s exposed rock is around 430 million years old, but reaching its famous overlook requires climbing approximately 1,200 feet along the short, steep, and rocky Red Dot Trail. From the top, hikers are rewarded with one of the most recognizable views in the state as the Delaware River winds between New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
