that's such a crazy take.. children should always be placed with family if possible but be so for real, the parents wanted their child. they didn't want their child to suffer. at literally no point should the surrogate gain custody, she should however be footing every single medical bill for the duration of that child's life.

I don't have the words for this. they had their opportunity to get the baby the care he needs instead of opting to murder him. I fear the surrogate doesn't have much legal recourse.

Making the excruciating decision to terminate a pregnancy because of a critical condition such as HLHS does not equate to not ‘wanting’ the child. Can you imagine a universe where surrogates just breach contracts and then unilaterally get to decide they are the custodial parent? An absolutely ridiculous suggestion.

they need to start changing these contracts. I praise the surrogate mother and she did everything in her power to protect that baby so she deserves custody, that is the best interest of the child.

I’ve seen very opposite comments and I think neither is wrong. But I don’t think someone who can’t handle abortion and is pro life should choose to become a surrogate in the first place. Thats crazy??

If the bio-parents do keep the child, I hope they guide him with a caring and loving heart. When he is old enough to engage with other children, they will know his circumstances from their family, friends, resulting from it being human nature to gossip. They may not be kind. When he is old enough to access the internet, the story will show the battle and all it entails. The bio-parents will have to look into the eyes of a child/teen that knows, at one point in his existence, that the very people that are supposed to love and protect him, wanted him to die. Regardless of their reason, the hurt will probably pierce his soul.
