@peterispeter: The system is built for greed and individualism not improvement and goodness #bigoil #cardependency #highspeedrailway #opinioncorner #tiktoktechcontest
Correct ✅. No current industry is going to let their cash cow get slaughtered, nor give up any power. None.

It’s why the don’t require seniors to retest for their licenses too. They would need to provide ways for those seniors to get around.

Dont forget the insane amount of money car insurance companies rake in from good drivers who never have to make a claim.

what I can't wrap my head around is, why did they not take this information they had on the effects that fossil fuel use would have and get the Monopoly on green energy?

Like I love cars, I love driving cars, but I truly would give my all to help have a national high speed railway system and to give public transit a large increase that comes from my taxes.

There’s another reason it’s hard: landowners. When you build high speed rail you have to cross a LOT of major landowners land (people with tens of thousands of acres) - they are rich, and want to ensure their land isn’t damaged. By comparison, a data centre will pay SO much to its one landowner it has no issues, but all the surrounding ‘landowners’ (single home owners) who may number tens of thousands, they can just be ignored, because they’re not rich.

I believe big oil is also the reason why corporations ditched WFH and instead went back to in-office. Big oil wasn’t making the same kind of profits when people didn’t need to commute 5+ days a week to work.

This was really informative. I hadn’t thought about the cascading effect of prices of oil based products if you improve the transportation grid through rail. Nice video. I think in order for anything to change they will need to be forced. Period.
