I think I need clarification. Don’t the bridesmaids pay for all that stuff already? I’ve had brides pay for my makeup to get done but the rest of the stuff (dress, shoes, hair, trips) we pay ourselves. Are bridal parties not supposed to pay for these things?

I feel like the bridesmaids should pay for their dresses UNLESS they cost an ungodly amount of money. The Bridesmaids are taking their dresses with them when they are done with the wedding. So they can keep them and wear them to different events that require those types of dresses and if they want to seel them after they can make some of their money back. We bought our bridesmaids dresses when I got married but our wedding was nothing extravagant it was pretty but also didn't cost a fortune. But my wedding was over 17 years ago. Things cost so much more now than they did in 2009.

I don't understand the concept of making your bridesmaids pay for everything. My wedding is coming up soon and I have 6 Bridesmaids and I paid for their accommodation, dresses and hair & makeup, all they are paying for is the bachelorette and bridal shower. I am also not rich, I have just been saving for this for years.

In my country paying for the bachelorette party is common so that I get and I also get asking the bridesmaids to pay for their own dress but it has to be a conversation so both parties can agree. I had four brides maids and I didn’t have the budget to pay for their dresses so I asked them instead to wear the same kind of color (blue). That way they could buy the dress is they want to if they didn’t have one in that color already. I also wanted them to look their best so I thought it was better to let them control most of how they looked. No one knows how to look their best than the person themselves.

Wowser! Been a bridesmaid several times, and I’ve only ever had to pay for the dress. For my wedding they only had to travel to the destination, I covered everything else.

Is it $500 for the dress, alterations, hair and makeup, shower and Bach trip? That sounds like a deal to me haha. I’ve been a bridesmaid 4 times and I’ve always had to pay for everything. Two of them didn’t have a shower or a Bach trip but I still paid for dress, alterations and hair and makeup. One wedding a dress was $300 between the dress and alterations.

I got married 15yrs ago and I just gave my bridesmaids a colour each, I think the most expensive dress was $50. I don’t even have wedding photos up in my house lol. Invest the money into your relationship and future not your wedding!!
