photographer (or family friend who is good at photography and wants to give this to you as a present), instead of doing something big for food - consider apps and cup cakes

After my husband and I got engaged, we found out my mom had cancer. We moved the wedding up and had a simple living room ceremony while she was in hospice. She passed 2 weeks after the wedding but Im so glad she could be there. It was rushed but beautiful. We had a big reception months later and called it a vow renewal.

I love this! As farmers we are getting married on October 11 (our busiest peak season of the year) because our families couldn’t all make it to our original date (Feb 22) due to a health crisis. We couldn’t do any other week this year besides october 11 but it means everyone we love can be there. The “don’t stress, just do it” is real! We have 2 months to plan but 2 weeks is even crazier! I am so excited for you. Excited to see what flowers you pick and congrats on this next chapter.

I love this. My husband and I got married in the backyard of my mom’s house, the house I grew up in. Don’t stress. We had our license, in my state you don’t need a licensed officiate as long as you give consent. So my sister officiated. In attendance was immediate family only and my dad’s dog (my dad had passed). I didn’t wear a wedding dress and my husband wore shorts. We went out to eat afterwards. 2 years Later, we did have a big wedding complete with caterers, a wedding planner, dresses, and invited ALL the people. It was so fun, but our very intimate backyard marriage was far more special. That was for us. The other part, even though it was fun, kind of wish we just had the first one. So don’t stress. It will be beautiful regardless because you love each other and the people who love you will be there. If you want a reception just book a room at a restaurant that accommodates large parties.

We got married on a pretty quick time frame. I bought my dress on Amazon. This was pre flower-farming days so I bought a nice bouquet at the farmer’s market the day before. I did my own hair and make up. We got married at a park - it was naturally pretty and didn’t need decor. Vows. License. Minister/judge. Witnesses. Rings. Location. Clothes. Flowers. You got this.

I got my dress at lulus for $99 I got all my flowers @trafer joes and Michael for silk flowers , table tops were pretty simple. If you want alcohol at your wedding you may want to check the liquor laws (some states let you apply for a day license so your caterer can serve. ) but I’d say getting a caterer is top priority. If you do get the alcohol license ask your caterer to create a few craft drinks and tell you what you need to serve x people you are inviting and pick everything up from Costco (or similar) — this is how we saved thousands on our wedding

Eeek! This is very exciting! And!!!!I was the medical emergency that lead to planning an elopement in 6 days… Details I am most grateful we had: a chosen person to officiate, someone taking photos (a friend. Hiring wasn’t in the budget but if it were I would have), a special playlist I played in the am getting ready (nw if I am grumpy I listen and it reminds me I LOVE), my something blue was bachelor buttons in my hair, cowboy boots bc childhood dream, I found a white sundress at a local shop, local farm flowers. I can share more details if helpful!

hear me out - don't go crazy on this one. focus on the people being there witnessing your marriage. then, next year at the celebration, go all out on the dress, the food, the venue. this one is for your people, next year is for your party

Here's my quick and dirty list: -dress -officiant (see if maybe a family member is willing to get ordained online, takes like 20 minutes) -location. how many people will be there? maybe you could do the ceremony at a park, then rent out an restaurant for the reception? -food: similar to above, maybe rent out a place or see if local restaurants can do last minute buffet style catering

Look for an all inclusive location! Somewhere that has all of the stuff under one roof so you just have to find the location and then they will handle food, cake, decor. Good photographer over everything else, and since you don’t have time for alterations find a secondhand bridal shop if they have one in your area and try on everything in your size, even styles you ordinarily wouldn’t try because you might surprise yourself. Good luck!

I just did this! I just retired from being a wedding planner and at first I thought all the little things were going to matter to me and when it came down to it none of the little stuff mattered. Delegate everything that’s not super important to you. Pick maybe two areas to really care about and give everything else to another person to source.

Congratulations! Also planned a small wedding in 2-3 weeks. My only regret is not hiring a professional photographer, I had a family member offer to take pics. It’s the one thing I should have splurged on. Just celebrated our 22nd.
