If he likes to read - Something we did with our kid was to have a relatively early bedtime but we allowed them to read until they went to sleep. No toys, only books. Now at 12 years old, they read at an 11 grade level and LOVES to read. Reads all the time on their own. Finding long series helped (the Warrior books [ about cats])

The absolute best thing you can do for a child is read to them. Sets them up for success, as they'll love to read.
