Why I Can’t Count to 67
Counting is something most people learn when they are very young. You start with 1, then 2, then 3, and eventually you can count to really big numbers. However, for some mysterious reason, I have one number that completely defeats me: 67.
I can count perfectly well through 66. I can say 64, 65, and 66 without any problems. But then 67 appears, and suddenly my brain decides that counting is no longer possible. It is as if there is an invisible wall standing between 66 and 67.
The strange thing is that I know 67 exists. I can see it written down. I know that it comes after 66 and before 68. Yet when I try to count to it, my brain starts acting like it has never heard of numbers before. I might say 66 and then accidentally jump to 68, completely skipping 67.
This makes 67 the most difficult number in my entire counting career. Other numbers are easy. Even huge numbers seem less confusing. But 67? Absolutely impossible.
Therefore, I have reached an important conclusion: I may never be able to count to 67. Maybe one day I will finally overcome this challenge, but until then, I will proudly count from 1 to 66 and then pretend that 68 comes next.
In conclusion, 67 is not just a number. It is my greatest counting enemy.
