@oasis.app: Samples covered organic and non-organic lines, multiple absorbency levels, and both US and EU purchased products. What we found: - Lead detected in 7 of 8 brands, organic cotton included - Glyphosate not detected in any of the 8 brands, every sample below the detection limit - 1 brand tested clean across all heavy metals screened A 2024 UC Berkeley study of 30 tampons from 14 brands found lead in 100% of samples, averaging 120 ppb. Arsenic ran higher in organic tampons, lead ran higher in non-organic. Our results line up. Why it matters: - Vaginal tissue absorbs directly into the bloodstream, no first-pass liver metabolism - The average user goes through 7,400+ tampons over a lifetime - There is no known safe level of lead exposure Manufacturers are not required to test finished tampons for heavy metals before sale. The FDA only opened its review in September 2024. Full results, brand names, and ppb levels are on the Oasis app.
