my bf and I have had this conversation, and it was never really about "physical presence" it's always about effort. Yeah he's there, he's with you, but so are roommates, bestfriends, and family. What exactly seperates him from those people? What makes him special other than sex? What makes YOU special in his eyes? It's effort, and going out of his way to make you feel special and wanted. If he's not doing that, girl, you're not his gf. You're a glorified roommate.
