A few years back, my husband asked off for a day because I was going to be having an outpatient surgery & he needed to help me. His work didn’t really want to have to let him off. In order to give him off, they requested for him to show proof of my surgery. I had to screen shot my scheduled appointment time in my MyChart app, which showed what I was having surgery for, in order for him to show them so they would let him off. It was a medical necessity that I have the surgery. To me, that is a HIPAA violation for them to require to see proof & details about my surgery.

This is a skit - but my family had to settle out of court for a work comp like this and it almost cost us our home. All they had to do was pay his appointment and a week or two of work
