The Story of Prophet Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him)
Here is the detailed story of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him), from his birth to what will happen at the end of the world, according to the Qur’an and Hadith.
1. Maryam and the Birth of Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him)
Maryam (Mary) was a righteous woman whom Allah chose and honored. An angel came to her and gave her the good news that she would have a son. Maryam was surprised and said, “How can I have a son when no man has touched me?”
Allah created Jesus (peace be upon him) by His command: “Be,” and he was.
Therefore, Jesus had a mother but no human father. This was a miracle from Allah.
2. Jesus Spoke as a Baby
When Maryam returned to her people carrying Jesus, they accused her of something shameful.
Maryam did not argue with them. Instead, she pointed toward the baby.
Then Jesus (peace be upon him), while still a baby, spoke and declared that he was a servant of Allah and a prophet. This was one of his great miracles.
(Qur’an 19:29–33)
3. When He Became a Prophet
When Jesus grew up, Allah sent him to the Children of Israel. Allah gave him the Gospel (Injeel), and Jesus called people to worship Allah alone.
He also confirmed the Torah that had been given to Prophet Moses (peace be upon him).
4. His Miracles
Allah gave Jesus many miracles, including:
* Healing people who were blind.
* Healing people who had leprosy.
* Bringing the dead back to life by Allah’s permission.
* Making a bird from clay that became alive by Allah’s permission.
These miracles were not performed through Jesus’ independent power. Allah had the power, and Jesus was His messenger.
5. Some People Rejected Him
Some of the Children of Israel believed in Jesus, while others rejected him. Some even wanted to kill him.
But the Qur’an says:
“They did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but it was made to appear so to them.”
Therefore, Islam does not teach that Prophet Jesus was killed or died on the cross. Allah raised him up to Himself.
6. Where Is Jesus Now?
According to Islamic belief, Allah raised Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) up, and he remains alive in the way Allah has decreed.
