@nontoxicdad: Three things I would never buy at Costco as an Environmental Scientist. Downy Ultimate Fusions. Looks like candy but it’s fusing carcinogenic and hormone disrupting chemicals into your clothes. Traditional laundry detergents. Surfactants, brighteners, fragrances linked to hormone disruption and the big C. Your lungs breathe these allergens all day. Front loading washers. They grow black mold in the rim and that mold releases mycotoxins that can wipe out your family. Watch the full video for what to grab instead 👆 Send this to someone doing laundry wrong 👇
Front load washers have to be left open after use to prevent mold

I LOVE Ecos. I was feeling so *bleh* until my friend suggested that I try that. Haven't gone back to Tide. They even have a lavender one

Mold builds up under an agitator also. People need to accept responsibility and clean the machines they use. Just like a restaurant needs to clean their beverage lines. Anything running liquid through it will get dirty and eventually mold

Can’t you run a fan through a front loader?

Top loaders are the worst! Just leave the front load door open for a little. Or get the whirlpool washer from Costco, it has a setting that dries the drum!

Based on research, you’re always supposed to keep front loader doors open and the detergent tray out when ur done washing. To be extra safe, take a towel or cloth. Wipe down the rubber seals so mold or mildew don’t grow on it. If you’re mad lazy, minimum, just keep the door and drawer out, no wipe down. Still, you’ll have to do maintenance cleanings on it. Front loaders also, clean better than top loaders, use less water, and use less electricity to run.

Leave the detergent drawer and your door slightly open after washing and no mold grows. Had mine for years with no growth. Also clean it. Just like your dishwasher and shower needs cleaning so does your washing machine.

Not everyone has the space for top loading washing machines. So what is the alternative for keeping mold from growing?

YES. My in laws a front load and I always feel bad when I close it, like I’m making mildew. But what can we do? Leave it open after every load? One day I’ll get myself a top load once I have to invest in washers
