Thailand is expensive now, the backpacker days are long gone.

It’s all over SE Asia - blame it on social media and so call influencers tellin them it’s cheap to move to Asia with small amounts of savings 🤪

this is literally common sense crazy how people think they can just move to a whole different country with no income and a wee bit of savings 🤣

Why do foreigners imagine it will be easier over there? As if they could free themselves from all effort and all rules.🙄

People thinking $20k is going to allow them to be able to retire in Thailand is hilarious and sad at the same time.

So migration is only cool to the West, not from it. I guess they are all losers too then

If you want to retire in Thailand you realistically need about 500k-1 million dollars. That’s enough for no job ever again.

I 1st went to Thailand at 20. It was amazing! I had older friends who owned hotel etc there. The travelers and expats I met were amazing. 20 yrs later…. The type of people who go now bc of social media are not the best type of tourist.

I live in Chiang Mai, it's still dirt cheap. what's expensive is if you want all your Western comfort in Thailand, which will cost you roughly the same price as back home. But everything else is around 1/4 of the price of back home : accommodations, food, medicine, etc..

Yeah , I spend on average $12,000.00 a month usd living in Bangkok. Been here 6 years. A lot of that cost is the kid and wife but living "the life" anywhere isn't cheap. Most people online are living in a shoebox larping a life greater than the one they can afford. Don't fall for it.

Thailand isn’t cheap anymore, but I was extremely shocked with the amount of rude tourists i came across when I was there. Thai people are so sweet and it just was horrible to see them mistreated so often on my trip

I’m retired living in Thailand on the Elite visa. You need a min of 1-2m usd to be comfortable. Don’t listen to all those YouTubers advocating all you need is 1-2k a month to live comfortably here. It’s simply untrue.
