@justinfreakin: DA Will NOT Take Cases From Police Dept. After Arrest Over Facebook Post TRINIDAD, Texas (KETK) – The Henderson County District Attorney’s Office has announced that they’re no longer taking cases from the Trinidad Police Department. This decision comes as the Trinidad Police Department is undergoing an audit from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), the state agency that regulates law enforcement agencies and licenses officers. “Our team is conducting an inspection at the Trinidad Police Department to confirm compliance with minimum standards for law enforcement agencies under Texas Occupations Code 1701.163,” TCOLE director of government and external relations Gretchen Grigsby said on Thursday. “Any further investigation or action will depend on any deficiencies found.” The district attorney’s office has issued a letter stating that, as of Monday, they will no longer prosecute cases that are solely investigated or filed by the Trinidad Police Department. This decision effectively prevents any state criminal charges stemming from arrests made by Trinidad PD from being prosecuted. The DA’s office letter noted that the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office has agreed to cover any crimes that happen within the City of Trinidad. They also noted that they’re reviewing any cases that Trinity PD already filed on a case-by-case basis. #news #police #truecrime

This happened well after national news about a man arrested in Lexington, TN for a FB post about Charlie Kirk. He's spent almost 2 months in jail but it ended up costing the city almost half a million dollars.

This is why we as black people have said there needs to be systemic change to how the police operate. Cuz this is one step from how they treat us (creating crimes that didn’t exist, jailing you for mundane things and bringing felony charges over it, abuse once you’ve reached their prison over the bogus charges) no one is safe

The original case on Jennifer should have gone to a grand jury first. The cops didn’t personally witness a crime being committed that required an immediate arrest. The protest is a protected act. “The right to peaceful protest “
