That you’re telling me that can’t be done by hand, and it would go way faster

It can go faster, doesn’t call in sick, doesn’t demand $30/hr, doesn’t need payroll tax, doesn’t need benefits, etc.

I'm no expert, but I know over lubricating is a very really thing, and that looks excessive

The reason this is done mechanically instead of manually is to ensure a precise, uniform layer of grease across every tooth flank, establishing the initial boundary lubrication needed to prevent premature wear and scuffing during break-in. This controlled application reduces waste while preventing overspray onto unintended surfaces that could attract dust, grit, and other airborne shop debris. While a technician is capable of the task, human application remains prone to inconsistencies and errors caused by fatigue during precise, repetitive work.

I’m normally the kind of person who’s like “I don’t know anything about this so my opinion on it is most likely wrong”, but I am confused as to why it’s better to do this so slowly with a specialized machine

grease is a lubricant that works best under compression. if it needed this much it would’ve used oil instead. it could have half as much grease and still be plenty 💯

Why can't the machine just glob a specific amount on and then spread it around real quick?
