The big challenge isn’t the deposit - the maths isn’t too bad for that. Its the monthly repayments. Many ppl assume mortgage payments go down but they can easily go up due to interest. £1.5k a month on mortgage repayments is already quite high, and would be more than £2k when accounting for bills, maintenance costs etc. if u got a high interest rate it could jump by so much more. I also think if buying as a couple, u should buy a home that one person could cover the mortgage comfortably because its likely one or the other could lose their job for any reason during a mortgage. Especially in this economy. So that makes it more difficult cause one has to either buy a cheaper home
