I used to think my husband wasn’t showing up the way he should… Not because he actually wasn’t, but because I couldn’t see how my own posture toward him was affecting our marriage. I wanted him to lead, but I wasn’t creating an environment where leadership could flourish. I was quick to correct, quick to step in, and slow to honor. To be clear, every husband is responsible before God for his own obedience. I’m not saying a wife determines whether her husband leads. But I am saying this: honor matters!!! You can’t constantly criticize, control, or undermine someone and then expect them to thrive under the weight of your words. You can’t crap in a well and then expect to drink fresh water 🙃 The Holy Spirit convicted me that what I kept calling a lack of leadership was, in many moments, a husband who didn’t have room to step into the responsibility I kept saying I wanted him to carry. That conviction changed the way I spoke, the way I responded, and the way I prayed. Honor doesn’t guarantee change. Only God changes hearts. But honor creates an atmosphere where respect can grow, trust can be rebuilt, and the Holy Spirit has room to work. “Let the wife see that she respects her husband.” Ephesians 5:33 🙏🏼🫶🏼🙌🏼🔥
