You need to do these these 7 hikes asap 😫 1️⃣ Point Lobos One of the most beautiful coastal parks in California, with turquoise coves, sea lions, and some of the clearest ocean views you’ll find anywhere. Point Lobos has become extremely popular. It’s best to visit outside of peak travel season/days for a more enjoyable experience. 2️⃣ Armstrong Redwoods Walk among towering old-growth redwoods on mostly flat, easy trails. It’s a perfect stop if you want the magic of the redwoods without a strenuous hike. 3️⃣ Mossbrae Falls A breathtaking waterfall where its cascades pour out of a moss-covered cliff into the river below. Access requires walking along private and active railroad tracks, so visit only if you understand and accept the risks. 4️⃣ Literally anything in Big Sur McWay Falls, Pfeiffer Beach, Ewoldsen Trail, Partington Cove… it’s almost impossible to pick a bad hike here. Plan extra time because you’ll want to stop at every viewpoint. 5️⃣ Grizzly Creek Redwoods One of California’s most underrated redwood groves, with peaceful trails and massive ancient trees, but without the crowds of the more famous parks. Fun fact: Scenes from Star Wars were filmed here! 6️⃣ Karl Knapp Trail A gorgeous loop through a lush redwood forest filled with ferns, moss, and towering trees. It’s my favorite redwood hike of all time. 7️⃣ Black Sands Beach (Shelter Cove) A dramatic black sand beach surrounded by rugged cliffs and crashing waves. Time your visit for sunset, and if you’re lucky, you’ll spot whales offshore. Visit during the winter for dramatic moody weather like you see in this post. 🗺️ Want my full California bucket list? After exploring California for ten years, I packed 170+ of the best hikes, views, hidden gems, and road trip stops across the state into one highly detailed and interactive bucket list guide. ⚠️ No searching. No guesswork. Just easy planning with real recommendations. Grab a copy at the link in my bio! And use code TT10 for 10% off at checkout. 🍃 Please always remember to explore responsibly. Practice Leave No Trace principles. Stay on trails. NEVER litter, and always respect the environment/locals.
